I Pine Tree (on Harakka Island)

Year of the Dog – Sitting in a Tree (video 8 min.) I sit in a pine tree on Harakka Island for mor than a year once a week, 7.1.2006 – 11.2.2007.

Day and Night of the Dog  (video 2 x 4 min.) I sit in the pine tree during a day and a night at Halloween time 2006, with two-hour intervals from 20.10 at 12.15 – 21.10. at 12.15.

II Pine Tree (on the cliffs of Harakka)

Shadow of a Pine (video 2 x 8, 16 and 16 min). I sit and lie on the rock below the pine tree on the western shore of Harakka Island for more than a year once a week, 7.1.2006 – 11.2.2007.  I repeat this twice each time, first with the city as backdrop, then with the open sea.

III Pine Tree (in Kalvola)

Year of the Dog in Kalvola – Calendar (video 2 x 4 min / 8 min.) I lean on and hang from an old pine tree near the summerhouse of my childhood, once a month during the year 2006 (except April, which was made only in 2007).

Background

These works during the Year of the Dog are part of a series of years, which I have worked with since 2002 and named after the Chinese calendar: Year of the Horse (2002), Year of the Goat (2003), Year of the Monkey (2004) and Year of the Rooster (2005).
