On Harakka Island, the wind is an ever-present element. It cannot be avoided, but it can be experienced in different ways.
The West Wind Exhibition both indoors and on the windy shores of the island will be put on by artists from Harakka and Bergen, another maritime City of Culture. The exhibition is an attempt to capture the essence of wind and to make the wind visible through personal experience.
KITE-MAKING WORKSHOPS will be arranged on Saturday 6 May and Sunday 7 May.
There will be a café in connection with the exhibition. "THE SPIRIT OF HARAKKA" - performance art - on Sunday 21 May at 2pm.
Harakka Island with its historical buildings and seaside location off the southern tip of Helsinki provides a unique venue for all sorts of projects and exhibitions. From April to October you can reach the island by boat from Ullanlinna quay on the hour (boat fare 20 / 6 marks).
